A supervisor got a new procedure. Complex. Different from anything his crew had run. He could have played the part, sounded like he had it all figured out. Instead, he did something harder.
He looked at his crew and said: "I've never done this before. Neither have you. We're going to do it right, which means if something doesn't make sense, we stop and name it. I want your eyes on this."
His crew didn't panic. They didn't lose respect. They asked better questions. They caught two things in that procedure that would have created real problems down the line. And when it mattered, they trusted his judgment on safety because they knew he wasn't pretending about anything else either.
